Metro: Exodus Enhanced Edition: The future will be launched by throwing rays
With his dark vision of post-apocalyptic Moscow, his sense of black humor, his memorable characters and his shooting mechanisms sometimes offset, the Metro franchise has attracted both detractors and a legion of devoted fans. In 2019, the latter group was entitled to one of the best games in the series, Metro: Exodus. Exodus delivered one of the most textured worlds of the year. It has moved the protagonist and character of the Artyom player and a handful of other old metro characters out of the Moscow tunnels and in several changing seasons of hostile external environments, but beautifully imagined, filled with a grotesque bestiary and humans. desperate. Metro: Exodus had complex characters with intriguing motivations, an almost perfect mix of stealth, elements of survival and shooting, and a well-written story at which the game often required special attention. He also miraculously avoided the problem of the open world of too many insignificant side quests and tension built by experts due to shortages of ammunition, harsh fighting and stealth inducing perspiration. While overall, the original version of Metro: Exodus looked like and seemed impressive enough, she had her unusual fan of bugs, Janks and performance problems, all of which were comparable to the Metro franchise.
This is the thing about Metro games: they are to a certain extent appreciated because of it, and not despite their slightly non-polished presentation and their approximate technology. They have engaging, superimposed and almost literary stories and characters with a dark sensitivity and black mood, uncompromising game systems and pleasant fire mechanisms, taking place in a detailed and credible post-apocalyptic world. Metro: Exodus seemed to be an important evolutionary step for the games 4a and the survival saga during Artyom.
Now, the developer 4A offered us - literally, because it is a free upgrade - with Metro: Exodus Enhanced Edition, who both corrects some bugs and answering the question: how much a friest. Can irradiated nuclear look like? It turns out that it is pretty great. The improved edition has been specially designed to show the gaming ray tracing capabilities, which have been rebuilt and refined on the optional ray tracing features of the original game. For players without engineering degree, it means that the shadows are more complex, that the light is reflected on the surfaces and through the atmosphere more realistically and that everything, fires to faces to the lamps of pocket, is even more beautiful. There is no doubt that if you have something that matches approximately the technical requirements of the game, it s the version to play.
But it is the potential disadvantage: the improved edition has a fairly high entry price, at least on PC, where the game requires a minimum RTX2060, and even in this case will only produce a resolution of 1080p. , less than 60 IPS with all the goodness of the Ray-Tracy at average quality. The enhanced edition also includes support for Deep Learning Super Scaling (DLSS), which can operate with a magic mojo to increase image frequencies on slightly less efficient cards. Once you have set everything and, hopefully, you are not in the bogs of configuration and resolution that some players have met (me including), Metro: Exodus Enhanced Edition is guaranteed to impress again more than to launch.
Although 2019 did not quite equalize the game quality counter that the previous year, it had its share of remarkable titles, Metro: Exodus included. The game has sold enough to also generate an excellent DLC. For all those who missed Metro: Exodus in its original version and can change the barrier of the graphics card at the entrance, the improved edition is definitely a must-have purchase. Fortunately, players without the required equipment can always enjoy other improvements and corrections, less major game.
